愛国心のもと、これを英語のQAで!

The patriotism, in its excellence

さて、昨日の愛国主義ですが、こんなQAにしてみました。

The Seiwjuku Magagie No. 23 spent first 20 pages for Mr. Inamori*’s interview after he put himself under Buddhism monk practical training. Through his comments and my recent experiences in Europe, I found out the ultimate patriotism in a very elegant and graceful manner. I would like to share my views with you.

Q: What is the greatest accomplishment that Mr. Inamori achieved?

A: He developed Kyocera to the 5 billion USD sales company. He also created KDDI, whose sales counts 47 billion USD. When Japan Air Line-JAL- went bankrupt in 2010, Japanese government appointed Mr. Inamori as a new chairman and in three years, he realized 2 bilion USD profit.

Q: How did he end up his career?

A: Regardless of such brilliant career, after his retiring Kyocera at the age of 65, he spent some time as a Buddhism monk and has been devoted his time and efforts to Seiwajuku, the learning and self-training workshops for business leaders of middle to small companies in Japan.

Q: This sounds unbelievable, has he got any offer for a chairman of global companies?

A: I personally assume that there should have been many offers to him. If I were the General Secretary of a country, no matter how much compensation I could make, I want Mr.Inamori as a leader of huge state own companies and want to realize the growth and to set up the highly profitable management scheme. However, the fact was Mr. Inamori spent his time after the retirement to educate Japanese business leaders.

Q: Did he have any risk to cause some compliance issues, as we saw for Calros Gohsn, the top of Nissan?

A: That seems to be unlikely. Mr. Inamori has almost no concerns for the compliance issues. Even though one may consider his life-time salary and bonus and looks for his hidden funds, that person may end up finding the Kyoto prize foundation, which Mr. Inamori established with his personal wealth. This would of course not damage his reputation but enhance his personal credit.

Q:So why he ended up as a workshop leader, his English skill was not so good?

A: English or communication was not such a big deal, I think. If the employer was serious, the highest quality of interpreter could have been provided. I think this is Mr. Inamori’s will and wish. He thought that those are Japanese who have been supporting Kyocera since its startup. He understands well those are Japanese companies who have been doing business with Kyocera as its royal customers. Therefore, he felt helping Japanese economy is a sort of his mission, to pay back all the support that Kyocera has got.

Q: Are there any other reasons that explain Mr. Inamori’s attitude?

A: Probably, there must be a sort of affection or compassion stated under Buddhism principle. As Mr. Inamori physically experienced Buddhism monk training program, at the fundamental part of his mindset, there should be Buddhism principles: as a human being, keep holding your gratitude towards others who helped your growth, keep checking what you do in your daily life and tender lessons learned, and keep always altruism in the center of your life.

Q: But even under the global field, he could have realized such disciplined objectives? Why he decided to dedicate his remaining time to Japanese business leaders?

A: This is, probably, due to his identity as a Japanese. His ideal world would be the environment where all the Japanese small to middle scale companies understand well his business philosophy and fully implement his business models in their business practices, and each individual involved in company operations feels fulfilled, satisfied, needed and become a better person. Presumably, Mr. Inamori envisages that this kind of streams of fulfillment should be started from Japan.

Q: So do you think he wishes that Japan has to take initiative to create dynamism under global economy?

A: Yes, I do. Therefore, even above 80, he has been eagerly traveling and releasing his messages and methodologies to the world. I feel this is the ultimate patriotism as a Japanese.   * Mr. Kazuo Inamori, the founder of Kyocera, KDDI (one of the top tele communication companies in Japan) and the top of revitalization project of JAL. As a well-known Japanese entrepreneur, he has been sharing his experiences and management know-how with managements of small to middle companies in Japan.
