意外な英訳、宗教って何ていう？

今日の日本語は、次のような考え方に関する 表現を英語にしてみましょう。
私は今年から大学で生徒さんに「不動産英語」を教えることになりました。後期の最初の授業で、この考え方の話をしました。考え方がネガティブだと、人生の結果が大きくマイナスになる、だから良い考え方をしましょうということを、生徒さんに伝えたのです。それは、前期の期末試験で追試試験をやったにもかかわらず、その追試で全く同じ答案が６人から出てきたからです。学部長から、機会を与えてもらってるにも関わらず、このような不正を行うとは、厳重に注意してくださいと言われました。授業の一番最初に 、この「考え方」の話をしたのです。
よくない考え方、ネガティブでマイナスの考え方ではなく、プラスの考え方を持つようにしましょう、と話をしました。ところが生徒さんからは、「これは宗教じゃないか」、「宗教を押し付けようとしている」という反対の声が上がりました。
合気道の山口先生もおっしゃっていますが、宗教というのは、「宗の教え」と書きます。人がどういうことをポリシーとして、信条として生きていくのか、生き方の根本のことを言っているのです。
ですので、何を自分の判断基準としているのか、 人生を歩んでいく上でとても大切なことなのです。この判断基準がないと、人の意見に惑わされたり、自分の軸がぶれたりします。
私の実体験で起こった内容ですが、出来事を話す時には、いつのことを話しているのか時制をしっかりすると、相手に伝わりやすくなります。 私は次のような英語を作ってみました。
I eventually started teaching “English in Real Estate Business ” for the university student this year and I talked about this mindset formula to them. The dean and I found out several students cheated at “a make-up exam” arranged after the first semester final exam. At the make up exam, if you had had positive mind-set, you could have worked hard to pass the exam, taking this opportunity given to you. However, if you had been filled with negative mindset, you might have thought that you had bad luck and merely wanted to get out of such trap by any means. This negative mind-set, at the end of the day, caused negative outcome even though you had never wished to have.
When I was talking this to students, some of them looked really unhappy and complained about the imposed religious education which is not allowed under the faculty policy. As my Aikido master, Yamaguchi sensei says, in Japanese we write Religion as the learning of our credo. Religion can teach you how to live your lifetime, what kind of core value you have to place in your daily life and what is the fundamental philosophy that you rely on during your hard time.
In other words, this is the value you establish in your life. This is the compass of your life. Without such benchmarks, you would have been influenced that much by others, or you can’t even decide your important items in your life.
